Edappally Sangeetha Sadas‘ August month programme featured a music concert of young promising talent S Mahadevan who is a Vocal and Veena Artist.

Mahadevan was accompanied by Sri Thiruvizha Viju S Anand on the Violin, Sri Palakkad Mahesh kumar on the Mridangam and Sri Vazhappally Krishnakumar on the Ghatam respectively.

Mahadevan began the concert with a rare Ata tala varnam in Panthuvarali followed by Sri Gananatham in raga Kanakangi which is the first melakarta.

Following that, he rendered Thyagaraja krithi Kotinadulu Dhanushkoti in Thodi and Sree Mathrubhootham in Kannada which is a Deekshithar composition.

Padavini in Salagabhairavi was rendered briskly before the main krithi Ghananaya Desika, a Koteeswara Iyer composition in raga Rishabhapriya which is the 62nd melam.

Ragam Tanam Pallavi “Govinda alarmelmangai manalaa vaa tiruvenkatanatha” in raga Darbarikanada was rendered after the main composition. Ragamalika swarams were also neatly applied.

Post pallavi, Mahadevan rendered Karunanidhan a Swathi bhajan in Charukesi, Appane Ayyappane in Nadanamakriya, Bharathidasan composition Thunbam Nergazhil in raga Desh, Muthayya Bhagavathar composition Mavoor Valam in Sindhubhairavi.

Mahadevan concluded the concert with Anandabhairavi thillana of Swathi Thirunal followed by mangalam.
