Mangala Vinayaka Temple, Vinayaka Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram

2017 Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations of Mangala Vinayaka Temple, Vinayaka Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram featured a grand musical concert of S Mahadevan.

Mahadevan was accompanied by Sri Thiruvizha Viju S Anand (violin), Sri Nanjil Arul (mridangam) and Sri Anchal Krishna Iyer (ghatam).

The concert was very vibrant with the support of accompanists, beginning with Neranammithi (Kanada Ata tala varnam). The concert featured 3 krithis on Lord Vinayaka the presiding deity of the temple. This included Mangalalayavara in Nattai, Tathwamariya in Reethigoula and Thillana in raga Basanth. Ananda Natana Prakasam, a Panchabhutha krithi in Kedaram and a fast paced Pahi Tharakshupuralaya in Jaganmohini was well enjoyed by the audience present.

Kaa Vaa Vaa in Varali, the most popular Papanasam Sivan composition was rendered as the main krithi.

Here the temple was formed before the formation of colony. The idol was shifted from Murukkampuzha estate. The earlier shrine was close to the river and had to be shifted to the current location after the bund was planned and built. The Advaita hall was built & the temple was shifted to the presnnt place by Vinayakanagar Association. Vinayaka here is worshiped by people far & near Neeramankara. Lot of poojas/celebrations are all carried out in the Advaitha hall complex.
