Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple


Sri S Mahadevan presented a vocal concert at Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple during the Maharudra Yagna Sangeethotsavam 2018.

His guru Padmashri Parassala B Ponnammal was honoured by Prince Aswathi Thirunal Rama Varma, on the first day of the music festival during the inaugural ceremony.

Mahadevan started the concert with a Padavarnam Palayamam Deva in the ragam Poornachandrika composed by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal describing Lord Sreekanteswara, the presiding deity of the temple. Krithis Shakti Ganapathim in Nattai, Paramananda Natana in Kedaram (another composition of Swathi Thirunal on Lord Sreekanteswara), Sivakamasundari in Mukhari were also presented.

 

Naanaro Neeyaro, a rare beautiful composition of great musician Sri V Dakshinamoorthy Swami in the ragam Sekarachandrika, (janya of ragam Shubhapanthuvarali) was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Parvathi Nayakane in the ragam Shanmukhapriya, a composition of Papanasam Sivan was rendered as the main krithi followed by taniyavarthanam.

Bhajans comprised of Seesa Ganga in Dhanasree, Purandara Dasar’s Ramakrishnaru Manege in Tilang followed by Lalgudi Jayaraman’s Thillana in Ragesree.

Mahadevan was accompanied by Sri Udupi Balasubramanian on the Violin, Sri Udupi Sreedhar on the Mridangam and Sri Trivandrum Ramaswamy Iyer on the Ghatam.
