ENCHANTING RAGA ALAPANA BY A 10 YEAR OLD BOY

A 10 year old boy was able to give the performance as efficiently as ten great musicians that proves the recital of Master S. Mahadevan (who is well known through Amrita TV Ragaratnam Carnatic Music Show) conducted at Kasargode Vyasa Mandapam Sri Venkataramana Temple on 18th August 6pm in connection with Sree Raghavendra Guru Aradhana Festival.

Master S.Mahadevan began the concert with the Keerthana Sree Mahaganapathy in the Raga Gowla, a Deekshithar Kriti with perfect Swara, Thala and Laya. The audience present there felt a spirit of devotion and sadhana in his presentation.

Keerthanas were presented in the following Ragas – Vachaspathi, Nalinakanthi, Natabhairavi .

The sub-piece for the concert was Saveri Keerthana of Shyama Sasthri, Durusuga. Niraval and Swara presentation in the Keerthana was well applauded by the music lovers present there. Raga Mukhari was neatly presented.  Raga  Poorvi Kalyani was selected for the central piece – Deekshitar’s “Meenakshi Me” was followed by Thaniavartana. Thukkadas included Swathi Tirunal’s bhajan, Raga Malika Sloka, Bagesri raga Keerthana, and a Bhajan in Madhuvanthi. The concert concluded with a thillana.

The accompanists were Sri.A.L.Anantha Padmanabha in violin, Sri.P.Purushothama Punichithaya in mridangam, and Sri Balakrishna Puthoor in Morsing.
