Vaikathappan Sangeetha Seva Sangham is a cultural organization based on Vaikam, which organizes monthly concerts of leading Carnatic Musicians all over India.

S Mahadevan gave a 3hour Vocal concert at the Vaikam Mahadeva Temple on the auspicious day of Thiruvathira.

He was accompanied by Sri Thirunellor Ajith(Violin), Sri Balakrishna Kammath(Mridangam), Sri Ambalapuzha Vijayakumar(Kanjira) and Sri Mangad Pramod(ghatam) respectively.

Mahadevan sang compositions praising lord Shiva the presiding deity of the temple.

Kana Kankodi, a Papanasm Sivan composition in the Ragam Kamboji was the main krithi, being sung. Neraval and Swaraprasthara was done at the Anupallavi portion Manickam Vairam…

Beginning with Begada Varnam, a wide variety of songs were selected including Pranamamyaham, Parvathi Nayaka in Bouli(Swathi Thirunal composition), Neelakanta Sivan compositions Kanden Kalitheernthen in raga Sahana and Endraikku Siva Kripai in raga Mukhari.

In addition to the main krithi which is Papanasam Sivan‘s composition, other 2 krithis Saravanabhava Guhane in Kannada, and Kapali in Mohanam was also rendered.

Post main compositions comprised of Ragamalika Virutham Maanada Mazhuvaada along with Gopalakrishna Bharathi‘s Iduvo Thillai in Sindhubhairavi. Lalgudi Jayaraman‘s Ragesree thillana was the concluding piece.
