A special Veena – Venu – Violin trio concert was organized at Mangala Vinayaka Temple, Vinayaka Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the Prathishta Day Celebrations of the temple on 10th April 2018.
S Mahadevan played Veena, Vivek Shenoy and Thirunelloor Ajithkumar played Flute and Violin respectively. They were accompanied by Dr. G Babu on the Mridangam and Anchal Krishna Iyer on the Ghatam.
The concert began with Sree Ganapathini in Sourashtram, followed by Vathapi and Vighneswara all the compositions praising lord Ganapathi, the presiding deity of the temple.
Popular compositions Brochevarevarura in Khamas, Sobillu in Jaganmohini and Samajavaragamana in Hindolam were also rendered. Kripaya Palaya in Charukesi was the main composition, a krithi of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal. After the main composition, the audience present for the concert gave a standing ovation applauding the artistes.
The concert ended with bhajans Niraimathi (a thiruppugazh in Raga Hamsanandi), Kurai Ondrum Illai (ragamalika) and Thillana in Dhanasree followed by Mangalam.
